When AB Pumps was established in October 2000, Phineas Mokwena was identified as being an employee with potential. It was therefore decided to implement a development programme that would benefit such employees.

The period from 2000 to 2002 was allocated for the training of Mr. Mokwena. In this time period, he was trained in all aspects of borehole testing and was taught all the necessary skills that he would need.

During 2002 to 2004 he was trained in Project Management. During this time period he assisted various project managers, and in so doing he received the training required to manage a team of his own.

From 2005 to 2007, Mr Mokwena worked in a joint venture agreement withAB Pumps. He was thereafter provided with all the equipment needed and guaranteed 30% of the contract work.

We believe that by implementing such development programmes, we can ensure the future of those who have been previously disadvantaged and therefore have been denied the chance to further develop their skills.

We are committed to identifying emerging contractors on an ongoing basis to supply them with the necessary skills to become capable contractors in our highly specialised field. The number of these contractors is dependent on the volume of work that is generated thus ensuring continued sustainability of their enterprises, as we are prepared to continue our logistical support even after the completion of the development programme.
